FROM SCHOOL TO MUSEUM
"FROM SCHOOL TO MUSEUM"
In August, the English specialization students from Débora Arango Pérez School, along with their teacher in charge, Jeimmy Primiciero Espinosa, of the project "ROAMING CURIO DAP TEAM," started their English practice as mediators for foreigners at the “Museo de Bogotá”. This opportunity has granted us access to two of the city's downtown museums: "7 Balcones" and "L.A.R.E.N.S." The students are being prepared to be mediators between the museum exhibits and the visitors, and they also have a high level of English proficiency to interact with individuals who do not speak Spanish. Each student becomes a guide based on their knowledge and life experience in the city.
This experience has been beneficial for the students, as it allows them to navigate a context outside of the classroom and exposes them to a different English that of their teachers. This exercise increases their self-confidence and self-assurance, broadens their understanding of other cultures, and provides them the opportunity to expand their social circle. Moreover, these types of activities help them improve their comprehension and attentiveness skills.
